+ FLUORESCENT LIGHTS
What are Fluorescent Grow Lights?
Fluorescent grow lights create light from the glow discharge of an electrified gas rather than an electrically heated glowing conductive filament. For this reason fluorescent grow lights run much cooler than other grow lights. Fluorescent lighting is great for starting seeds and rooting cuttings. Plants can also be vegetated under fluorescent grow light. There are High Output fluorescent grow lights on the market now that do an incredible job. (see T5 fluorescents below)
What are Compact Fluorescent Grow Lights?
This is a newer fluorescent technology that puts out a higher amount of lumens to watts. Compact fluorescent grow lights are good for creating a square of light. You can use compact fluorescent grow lights to illuminate a 1' x 1' all the way up to a 3' x 3' area. They are good for parent plants, small vegetative systems and product very little heat.
What are T5 High Output Fluorescent Grow Ligthts?
The term T5 refers to the shape and size of these new grow light lamps. They are similar in design to standard Fluorescent grow bulbs, but they are much smaller and require a different fixture. The high output fluorescent grow lights have an incredible lumen/watt ration and can be used in the same manner as Metal Halide grow lights. These are generally good for rectangular spaces. Great for cloning, vegetating plants. An example is the 4 foot, eight bulb system is an excellent choice for a 2' x 4' space and can grow plants up to 16" tall in the vegetative phase, which will create strong, bushy plants, ready for blooming.
HIGH OUTPUT COMPACT FLUORESCENT GROW LIGHTS
HIGH OUTPUT T5 FLUORESCENT GROW LIGHTS
STANDARD OUTPUT T12 FLUORESCENT GROW LIGHTS
Compact fluorescents last longer than regular fluorescents and produce far less heat than HID lamps.
Available in 2 foot or 4 foot fixtures, T5 fluorescents have a high lumen / watt ratio. Excellent for vegetative growth.
These fluorescents are great for cloning or starting seeds. They do not provide enough light to grow plants very long.
FLUORESCENT GROW LIGHT REPLACEMENT BULBS
A 250 watt light is for a small garden, or to light plants that don't need much energy. It can cover up to a 2' x 2' area.
